Regime Change for Iran: National Transition Petition

A public call for peaceful constitutional transition, rights protections, and accountable governance in Iran.
Across Iran, many citizens express a profound crisis of trust in state institutions, economic management, and political accountability. Families face challenges from inflation, unemployment, and reduced purchasing power. Young people experience limited opportunities, widespread uncertainty, and growing frustration over corruption and restrictions on free expression. Activists and ordinary residents report pressures on civil society and fears related to peaceful political participation. In this context, advocates for significant constitutional reform argue that the current system no longer reflects public consent and should be replaced through a peaceful, nationally supervised transition. This petition calls for a clear democratic roadmap that includes the release of political prisoners, legal protections for protest and press freedom, independent oversight of elections, and a national dialogue on a future constitutional framework. It also requests that international observers and human rights organizations monitor conditions and document abuses. Supporters of this petition express a desire for Reza Pahlavi to serve as a transitional national leader, with the explicit goal of preparing free and fair elections and subsequently transferring authority to institutions chosen by the Iranian people. Regardless of political preference, this petition demands a nonviolent transition, adherence to the rule of law, and a government accountable to its citizens. In January 2023, the government reportedly shut down internet access ahead of peaceful protests supporting Reza Pahlavi. Reports indicate that security forces responded with excessive force, resulting in thousands of casualties. Hospitals were reportedly targeted, and many injured individuals, including medical personnel, faced threats. According to one state health department report, over 8,000 people suffered severe eye injuries, and many others were harmed by live ammunition. Numerous injured individuals have gone into hiding to avoid further harm, and many have been arrested with some facing execution orders. These actions constitute serious human rights violations and crimes against humanity, underscoring the urgent need for international attention and action today.
